The banks of New Town Creek served as a supply of foundation stones used in the construction of New Echota. In the image below, I have highlighted the row of stones showing chisel marks, and even an unfinished block of stone. When the state and federal troops forcibly evicted the Cherokee from their land, they rounded them all up at gunpoint and they literally had to drop what they were doing or be executed.
